Their base layer is made out of PUL (polyurethane laminate), a polyester fibre that is laminated with a polyurethane film the reason why it isn't breathable. Pads made with PUL fabric can get hot and sweaty, and often start to smell as they are harder to clean since water can't pass through it. Believe us, we've been there.
